Chapter Nineteen: I Understand Now—You Want My WeChat
Morning.
After spending a stifling night, Silly Girl finally welcomed the rising sun. She’d found out Bai Qingming’s address the night before, and today she was determined to confront him. No matter what, she simply couldn’t swallow this insult!
With that, Silly Girl walked out of her apartment complex. No sooner had she stepped outside than a commotion in the distance drew her attention—a crowd had gathered, snapping photos, excitement bubbling over in their voices.
“What’s going on? The wife catching the mistress in the act?”
Her curiosity piqued, Silly Girl drifted over. At a single glance, she was transfixed.
“What a cool car!”
In the center of the crowd sat a silver sports car. Its sleek exterior, streamlined body, and dazzling design instantly drew a swarm of young women, who couldn’t resist striking poses for photos to post on their social feeds.
There’s truth to the saying that a luxury car is the best magnet for young women.
“This car must be outrageously expensive!”
Silly Girl didn’t know much about cars, but even she could tell this one was no ordinary ride. It probably cost millions.
Seizing the opportunity, she fired up a livestream outdoors, panning her phone to the car. Within moments, her fans flooded in. When they caught sight of the car beside her, they were equally stunned.
“My god, Old Lady, is that your car?”
“Am I seeing things? Isn’t that a Bugatti Veyron—one of the world’s only eighteen? With a global starting price of fifty million, and even the wealthiest can’t get their hands on one?”
An informed viewer commented.
When she heard it was worth fifty million, Silly Girl was dumbfounded.
The chat continued:
“If I’m not mistaken, an Arabian prince has one, Gates bought one for his son, and in our country, Principal Wang seems to have one!”
“Damn, is this Principal Wang’s car?”
“Streamer, can you share your location? I want to snap a photo with this car—posting that would give me bragging rights for half a year!”
The audience was abuzz with excitement.
“Principal Wang?”
At the mention of that name, Silly Girl glanced around, trying to spot him nearby.
Meanwhile.
Bai Qingming had just stepped out of a taxi. The weather was beautiful—clear skies and gentle breeze—a perfect day to show off, or rather, to pick up his car.
He’d dressed with care for the occasion. In fact, the female taxi driver found him so good-looking she refused to take his fare, leaving Bai Qingming somewhat embarrassed.
As soon as he got out, he headed toward the gathering crowd, spotting his Bugatti Veyron from afar.
Bai Qingming had always been drawn to luxury cars. Back in college, he’d noticed flashy cars parked at the campus gates after class. Energy drinks and bottled water sat on each hood, and beautiful female students would hop in as the doors opened.
Curious, Bai Qingming once saw the class belle get into one and stopped her to ask what was going on.
That’s when he learned the cars were there to pick people up for hotel card games. The drinks on top signaled the stakes: Red Bull meant six yuan a round, Nutrition Express four, and water two.
The class belle admitted her family was struggling and she relied on winning at cards for meals. She pleaded with Bai Qingming not to tell anyone and even invited him to play together at a hotel—just the two of them.
He refused. What’s the point of playing cards with just two people? At that rate, they might as well play Go Fish—how boring.
…
In the crowd, Silly Girl spotted Bai Qingming approaching and froze in surprise.
What a coincidence—she ran into that scoundrel right here.
Fury surged within her. She marched straight up and blocked Bai Qingming’s path.
“Hey.”
Her tone was less than friendly.
“Hmm? And you are…?”
Bai Qingming paused. She did look familiar, but then again, every pretty girl on the street in summer looked familiar to him—they all reminded him of ex-girlfriends.
“Playing dumb, are you? Fine, keep it up. I’ll see how long you can pretend,” Silly Girl scoffed.
“Pretend what?” Bai Qingming was utterly bewildered.
Then something clicked—he realized who she might be. “Oh, you want my WeChat, right?”
As he spoke, he pulled out his phone and showed her his WeChat QR code.
He’d seen these pick-up tactics many times before. Young women who found him handsome would pull these tricks just to get his attention. He understood perfectly.
Silly Girl was left speechless. Only one thought filled her mind: How could someone in this world be so narcissistic?
“Wow, Old Lady is challenging the Grandmaster of Singlehood again?”
“Ha! Cross-server chat and she still hasn’t figured out that he really doesn’t recognize her.”
Viewers from last night’s stream teased in the chat.
“You really don’t know me? I’m a streamer on Fish as well.” Realizing the situation was off, Silly Girl grew flustered and quickly explained.
Noticing her livestreaming herself with her phone, Bai Qingming finally understood. So, she was here to leech off his popularity!
Once he figured it out, Bai Qingming offered an awkward smile, putting his own phone away. “Alright, just send me your channel number on my streaming account. I’ll be sure to give you a follow.”
“???” Silly Girl was dumbfounded.
“Kid, do you have a lot of questions???”
“Hahaha, not a bad haul—at least you got a follow out of it.”
The viewers were howling with laughter.
“Anything else? If not, I need to get my car.”
Get his car?
Silly Girl was about to explode with rage. Here she was, a living, breathing beauty right in front of him, and all he could think about was his car.
Was he even a man? Could a car possibly be more attractive than her?
Just as she was thinking this, Bai Qingming pulled a set of keys from his pocket and pressed a button.
Beep-beep—
Silly Girl’s attention shifted instantly. For a moment, she swallowed hard, lost for words.
She really couldn’t compete with that sports car.
“No, wait. Why am I competing with a car?”
Silly Girl snapped out of her daze.
The Bugatti’s doors slowly lifted, its lights flashing. In that instant, Bai Qingming’s aura crushed all the anger Silly Girl had been harboring—all of it vanishing without a trace.
Handsome and wealthy.
Was this man a domineering CEO straight out of a novel?
Almost against her will, Silly Girl stepped forward.
“Um, could you take me for a spin?”
Even she didn’t know what she was saying.
She wasn’t the only one—several other girls who’d been taking photos came up as well. Two of them even slapped their boyfriends and broke up with them on the spot.
Faced with the swarm of eager girls, Bai Qingming merely smiled and replied calmly with three words:
“Another time, perhaps.”
