Chapter One Hundred: The King of Ultra
Zoffy was taken aback by what he heard, gazing at Yue Longze in confusion.
Seeing the bewildered look in Zoffy’s eyes, Yue Longze could only sigh and explain once more, “I was accidentally swept into another dimension!”
“Oh?”
A glimmer of intrigue flashed in Zoffy’s eyes, making him appear even more curious.
Noticing the curiosity swirling in Zoffy’s gaze, Yue Longze smiled, choosing not to hide anything. He recounted in detail how he had traveled to the alternate dimension and the process by which he returned to the Land of Light. However, he glossed over his experiences within that other world, not mentioning a single word about them.
Zoffy did not press for details; he wasn’t interested in what Yue Longze had experienced there, only in how he had crossed over and returned.
...
“You’re truly fortunate!” After hearing Yue Longze’s story, Zoffy looked at him with a peculiar expression. “To make it back safely through such a temporal tunnel!”
Yue Longze paused, then asked, “Is it... really that dangerous?”
“Indeed,” Zoffy replied gravely. “The fact that you weren’t caught in a time-space rift simply means your luck was extraordinary!”
“I see...” Yue Longze mused inwardly, realizing he had narrowly escaped death several times.
“Long.”
“Huh?” Yue Longze turned his head to Zoffy.
“At present, the only hope of utterly destroying Judar lies with you—someone who possesses both dark energy and a righteous heart!” Zoffy’s tone grew solemn.
Yue Longze was momentarily stunned, then nodded emphatically. “Yes! I understand!”
“But my strength...” Yue Longze knew his own limits. With his current power, taking on Judar was akin to striking a stone with an egg; he would more likely be defeated himself.
Zoffy felt much the same. With Yue Longze’s current abilities, slaying Judar was indeed almost impossible—unless he were to deliver the finishing blow at the very end. Otherwise, he was no match at all.
Yet the situation was grim.
All the Ultra Brothers had been dispatched to confront Belial’s Dark Five Kings, as well as to eradicate the mass-produced Dark Lops, while Zero led the New Universe Defense Force he created—Mirror Knight and the others—against the further strengthened Dark Lops Zero and Belial.
Nearly all of the Land of Light’s top fighters had been mobilized! And elsewhere in the universe lurked the elusive Kyrie Lord God. Fortunately, he had not intervened yet, or there would have been even more carnage and bloodshed.
But above all, Judar himself was still watching, waiting for his chance.
The disparity in power was so vast that even the Father of Ultra, their leader, seemed unable to see a glimmer of hope.
Yet Yue Longze was the one personally chosen by the King of Ultra—a figure whom the Ultra King had ordered Zero to bring across time and space, no matter the cost.
Yue Longze might just barely count as this universe’s hope. As long as Judar was slain, the rampaging monsters would scatter, freeing up much of the Land of Light’s strength and easing their burden.
...
Zoffy reached out to pat Yue Longze’s shoulder, about to speak. But before he could utter a word, another figure appeared before them.
It was a mysterious old man with fiery red eyes, draped in a crimson cloak, his head adorned with what looked like a crown.
“Ultra King?” Yue Longze was startled. He had not expected the legendary, enigmatic Ultra to appear before him like this.
Zoffy was also taken aback, but quickly recovered, greeting the Ultra King respectfully in the manner of a junior.
The Ultra King merely nodded slightly, then turned his gaze to the still-dazed Yue Longze.
“Come with me, young one.”
His voice betrayed no emotion, yet it carried an unquestionable authority, a weight that brooked no defiance.
It took Yue Longze a long moment to react, stammering awkwardly, “Ah... yes, sir!”
Zoffy couldn’t help but chuckle at Yue Longze’s flustered response.
With a sharp turn, the Ultra King spun around, his movements crisp and decisive, the red cloak on his back billowing with the force. In the blink of an eye, he shot off into the distance like a bolt of lightning.
“So fast!” Yue Longze clicked his tongue in admiration. No wonder this mysterious elder was the legendary Ultra King!
Without delay, he bent his knees, gathered his strength, and with a whoosh, took off after the Ultra King, the sound of his flight echoing past Zoffy.
Even at full throttle, Yue Longze could barely keep up with the pace set by the Ultra King.
It was clear the Ultra King was flying at a leisurely pace; if he went all out, Yue Longze would never be able to keep up.
Pushing himself to his limits, Yue Longze followed closely behind, the scenery of the Land of Light flashing by below, its splendor laid bare before his eyes. But he had no mind to admire it—the speed was overwhelming! He felt as if his body was running beyond capacity, like an engine about to burst into flames.
...
“Sir... could you slow down a bit?” Yue Longze panted, gasping for breath. “If this keeps up, I might just explode...”
The Ultra King glanced back at him, then accelerated even more.
“Is the Ultra King... testing my endurance?” Yue Longze was bewildered. Watching the figure draw further away, he could only force a wry smile, grit his teeth, and push himself to go even faster.
Out from the crystalline Land of Light, past countless asteroids, Yue Longze flew beyond his limits, his dark form beginning to emit wisps of smoke.
He felt utterly miserable, but faced with the ever-speeding Ultra King, he had no choice but to persevere.
No matter what you start, once begun, you must see it through!
Besides, he remembered Zero once said that flying was itself a form of training.
So now, Yue Longze treated this as both a physical and mental trial.
At last, after he had pushed himself to the brink, the Ultra King finally halted.
...
They had arrived on a planet riddled with rocks. The sky was a dusky yellow streaked with red, and underfoot lay endless sand and stones, radiating an oppressive heat.
With a resounding crash, Yue Longze’s massive body slammed into the ground, sending dust and rocks skyward.
The Ultra King stood calmly atop a jutting boulder, watching as Yue Longze lay sprawled below, his body heaving with rapid, exhausted breaths.
This time, Yue Longze had truly exceeded his limits. He could scarcely believe he had managed to persist for so long.
Wisps of blue smoke still curled from his body, but gradually faded with time.
Bit by bit, his strength began to return.
