Chapter 14: Eight Dishes

On Mo Qianxun’s side, she watched the little virtual figure on her phone furiously operating the virtual computer. Then, a notification popped up, roughly saying: “New feature available—you can now communicate with customers from other worlds.”
Mo Qianxun: “!!! I’m right outside the phone, couldn’t you have just told me? Did you have to make a whole notification for it?”
System: “Isn’t it more professional this way?”
Mo Qianxun eyed the new private chat function and tentatively sent a message to Hu Meier: {Are you there?}
Hu Meier, seeing the suddenly appeared page and the unexpected message, her eyes instantly lit up. This was truly convenient—being able to communicate across worlds. If only Qingqiu had something like this, even if it couldn’t connect to other worlds, at least it could work within Qingqiu’s realm.
That way, she wouldn’t have to spend so much time searching for people anymore.
{I’m here, it’s Qianxun, right?}
{It’s me, Sister Meier. How’s the discussion going over there?}
{Not sure yet. The Six Elders are still deliberating, but I think there’s a good chance they’ll agree.}
It’s often said that demons, gods, demons of the underworld, and cultivators or Taoist priests in the mortal realm don’t care much for food cravings. But everyone knows that’s because they’ve never had good food.
{That’s great. So, do you usually serve vegetarian or meat dishes? Do you prefer sweet, sour, spicy, or mild flavors? Any dietary restrictions? We want to prepare the ingredients accordingly.}
Hu Meier furrowed her brow slightly; she really wasn’t sure about this.
When the Sixth Elder and Third Elder came in, they saw Hu Meier looking conflicted as she stared at the red gem in her hand. Above the gem was a projection, seemingly showing someone speaking.
“Meier, what’s wrong?”
“Grandfather Fox Three, Grandfather Fox Six, you’ve finally arrived. Qianxun asked if our banquet should focus on meat or vegetarian dishes, what flavors we prefer—sweet, sour, mild, or spicy—and if there are any dietary restrictions. I’m not familiar with the tastes of the Heavenly Realm or the Demon Realm. Luckily, you’re here.”
Hu Meier sighed with relief upon seeing the Third and Sixth Elders; her saviors had arrived.
“The banquets in past years have always been half meat and half vegetarian. This year should be the same. As for flavors: one sweet dish is enough, one sour dish is good as an appetizer but shouldn’t be too much, three mild dishes since people of the Heavenly Realm generally prefer light food, and three spicy dishes as well.” The Third Elder pondered for a moment. One person per table, eight dishes per table should suffice.
Hu Meier sent the Third Elder’s requests to Mo Qianxun.
After receiving the message, Mo Qianxun contacted Zhao Jianguo, who, after reading the requirements, immediately began looking for some skilled chefs. If necessary, they would even hire national banquet masters.
Soon, another man entered the office and sat beside Mo Qianxun.
“Qianxun, let me introduce you. This is Diplomat Luo Qing. He handles negotiations for private transaction remunerations,” Zhao Jianguo explained.
Mo Qianxun’s eyes widened—this was the famous diplomat Luo Qing? Rumor had it he had just secured a major oil field in the Middle East for their country at the lowest price.
Luo Qing smiled at Mo Qianxun’s expression.
After explaining the situation to Luo Qing, he fell silent for a moment. “I’m a bit curious. According to what you said, only Miss Mo can currently contact Qingqiu. How do you plan to bring all those things over?”
Mo Qianxun was silent for a moment and then looked toward 008.
008 sighed. [Host, you finally noticed me.]
“Cut the nonsense, get to the point.”
[Oh, Host, you’re so fierce! Don’t worry, group purchase products are definitely pricier than regular ones, so we provide disposable space bags. You put the prepared food inside. Whatever you put in, it comes out the same. However, these space bags are single-use and have a time limit of one day for storage.]
Before Mo Qianxun could react, Zhao Jianguo and Luo Qing’s eyes lit up. Space bags? Like the spatial hubs or dimensional pouches from novels?
What a great item! If only they had these, transporting supplies would be so much easier.
“Uh, 008, I admit my voice was a bit loud earlier. Sorry about that.”
008 looked horrified at Mo Qianxun. [What’s the big deal? You actually apologized to me?]
“Heh, I just wanted to ask—can we buy these space bags?”

[Ha, I thought it was something serious. I was sweating coldly!] 008 wiped the cold sweat off its face. [It’s no big deal. Once the store opens, you can buy them with points. These disposable ones aren’t expensive, only 100 points.]
Mo Qianxun: ...Enough for delivering ten orders.
Zhao Jianguo and Luo Qing fixed their gaze on Mo Qianxun, their faces practically begging for two words: “Buy it.”
“Haha, no problem. I’ll save more points. Maybe I can even buy a permanent space bag.”
Zhao Jianguo and Luo Qing were very pleased with her answer.
“Since this order goes through the system, do we still need to ask for separate payment?”
[It’s best not to,] 008 advised. [They’re already paying the full price for the product. Asking for additional payment would be inappropriate. For private transactions, the amount of remuneration doesn’t matter to us, but if it goes through the system, there should be no secondary charges.]
“Can the merchant’s share be converted into Qingqiu goods?” They had previously confirmed that merchants deal with money, not points.
[That... doesn’t seem possible.]
“What about points?”
[Also doesn’t seem possible.]
“...Then it has to be money. Do you think our country lacks money?” Luo Qing adjusted his glasses, giving 008 a somewhat puzzled look.
[Seems not.]
“So, what should have been a win-win-win situation has turned into a three-way win?”
[...]
008 understood Luo Qing’s meaning and was silent for a moment. [Wait here. I’ll discuss with the company to see how we can solve this.] When there’s a problem, just ask the company—no worries at all.
