Chapter 10: What Merit or Ability Could This Be?

The virtual little figure that had just been lying down quickly stood up and looked at everyone. “Did you receive the message?”
Number One nodded. “Yes, we did. We will clear a piece of land as soon as possible to accommodate guests from the other world.”
Since they could communicate to determine the landing spot, it was safest for the official side to control this location.
“The base is already under construction. Now, what we need to guard against are those foreign satellites,” Number Two wrote something down in his notebook.
“There are far more beautiful bases abroad, but building a base is just building a base. We can just publicly claim that we discovered a new species. The Jiuyou Grass is a perfect excuse.”
Number One nodded. “But there’s one more thing. If the visitors from the other world bring buildings with them, how do we explain buildings that suddenly appear and then disappear?”
Everyone lowered their heads. That was indeed difficult to explain. If the other side’s buildings were just ordinary shops, it might be acceptable. But if their shops were conspicuous structures, that would be a problem.
008 looked at the troubled group. “For now, otherworldly merchants will not appear in this world temporarily. I will also communicate with my predecessors in advance.”
“You can dodge for a time, but you can’t dodge forever.”
“There is a device in the system mall that can simulate scenes. With this device, once the scene is set, the satellites above will detect exactly the scene we want them to see.”
“Is there really such a device?” An elderly professor’s eyes sparkled as he looked at 008.
008 nodded. “Yes, but it requires a lot of points, and the system mall only opens once I upgrade to Level Two. I’m currently just activated at Level Zero. So, host, you’ll need to deliver more takeout orders.”
“...Got it!”
“When the system upgrades to Level Two, there will be two fixed takeout orders per day and some random other orders. The more you deliver and complete, the more points you earn. So, host, you have to work hard!”
“...Uh...hehehe!”
“008, if we trade individually with the other world, will it affect you?” General Zhao thought of Fox Six’s condition.
008 was momentarily confused, then shook his head. “That’s your transaction; it has nothing to do with me. But if you want to open a portal to the other world alone, you will need to pay points to me.”

Everyone understood; it seemed this takeout system was quite user-friendly.
After the meeting ended, everyone went about their own business. Mo Qianxun was led by General Zhao to a training ground.
Mo Qianxun’s phone hung around her neck, facing outward. 008 occasionally peeked out from the top right corner and stretched a leg from the bottom left, like an electronic pet she kept.
“In a moment, someone will conduct targeted training on you. Your combat capability needs improvement. Right now, only you can have close contact with the otherworldly visitors. To prevent malicious people from attacking you, you need sufficient self-defense ability,” General Zhao said seriously as he looked at Mo Qianxun. This was a unanimous private decision.
Mo Qianxun bore the hopes of her entire country’s leap forward. Since they could not protect her up close, they had to ensure she had enough self-defense skills to reassure them.
008 sat cross-legged in the center of the screen, nodding in agreement.
“General Zhao is right, host. Your skills are really weak. You need enough self-defense ability so that when you enter the other world, you won’t be devoured alive by its inhabitants.”
Hearing this, Mo Qianxun and General Zhao exchanged a glance, both eyes shining.
008 suddenly realized it might have leaked something prematurely and quickly lay flat, forcing itself offline.
The two looked helplessly at the virtual figure lying flat, which ran off quite fast.
Soon, Mo Qianxun saw her instructors—one male, one female.
General Zhao pointed at them. “This is Comrade Lu Tao, and this is Comrade Chen Min. Both are elite soldiers from special forces. Having them train you will help you improve your combat skills in a short time.”
Mo Qianxun looked at the two elite soldiers before her and awkwardly chuckled twice. What did she deserve to have two battle experts train her? It looked like she was really going to be exhausted this time.
“We have already handed things over with your previous takeout company. You can now focus on your missions. Once the department is established, you’ll be a regular employee of the state and get a government salary.”
Mo Qianxun never expected she would get on board so easily.
General Zhao gave them a few more instructions before leaving. He still had work to do.
Mo Qianxun placed her phone in a safe spot and looked at the lying-down 008. “Stay safe. Call me if anything’s wrong. I know you can hear me.” Then she walked away.

After Mo Qianxun left, the virtual figure sat up. Since the phone was standing upright, it had a clear view of the training ground.
“My host wishes she could tie the system to her body, but she just casually leaves me aside. Sigh, luckily I’m bound to her, not the phone.”
After sighing, 008 settled down and watched Mo Qianxun being trained mercilessly.
“Tsk, watching a rookie get beaten is quite entertaining. Too bad I have no snacks. If I ever meet that big snake again, I’ll make it pay me a hundred snacks no matter what.”
Two hours later, Mo Qianxun lay on the ground, staring at the sky, gasping heavily.
“Rest for 10 minutes. After the endurance training, it’s obstacle evasion,” Lu Tao stood before Mo Qianxun’s head, holding a stopwatch and looking down sternly.
Mo Qianxun closed her eyes and shakily raised one finger.
“What, you want to add another lap?” Chen Min sat beside her and helped hold up that finger.
“I... I apply for an extra 10 minutes.”
Lu Tao checked his notebook. “Alright, since this is your first time training like this, you get an extra 10 minutes of rest.”
Satisfied, Mo Qianxun’s finger finally dropped.
Lu Tao sat on Mo Qianxun’s other side, and together with Chen Min, they looked up at the sky.
Two minutes later, 008’s voice rang in Mo Qianxun’s mind. “Host, this is bullying, cold violence, isolation. Why are the three of you looking at the sky together and leaving me to watch you alone?”
Mo Qianxun sighed, tilted her head slightly toward 008’s direction, and reached out to poke Chen Min. “Instructor Chen, could you please help me get my phone?”
Chen Min laughed softly at her. “What, feeling better and have the energy to play with your phone now?”
