Chapter 113: Chen Xingyan Painted a Grand Vision

Lin Ketong wasn’t fast; she finally arrived at seven o’clock. Cheng Yao hurriedly took the elevator up to the gym, where he was greeted by Chen Xingyan’s frown. “You’re so late today. I’ve been waiting for you for half an hour.”
“There was a traffic jam. I would’ve been here earlier otherwise.”
“Hurry and get changed. Today I’m taking you to the Muay Thai gym…”
Soon after, they arrived at the Muay Thai gym. Chen Xingyan exchanged a few words with the people there, and Cheng Yao immediately noticed the strange looks he was getting. He knew it—Chen Xingyan was a troublemaker!
Sure enough, the top Muay Thai disciple, hands wrapped in bandages, beckoned him over. Cheng Yao glanced at Chen Xingyan, and then proceeded to give the Muay Thai disciple a thorough beating, leaving the guy’s face bruised and swollen.
Chen Xingyan clapped her hands with restrained satisfaction and nodded, inwardly laughing herself silly. The Muay Thai disciple was left lying on the ground, clutching his battered face, utterly humiliated.
As they left the gym, Chen Xingyan patted Cheng Yao’s shoulder. “At this training rate, you’ll be all set for next year’s MMA. You might even place.”
“I’m not competing!”
“Why not!?”
Chen Xingyan raised her voice in confusion, staring at Cheng Yao.
He replied irritably, “I’m only training for self-defense, not to fight others in a cage.”
“Fame and money—aren’t those good things?”
“I’m not short on money, and what do I need fame for? Isn’t it nice just to lie around and relax…”
Although fighting was a great way to relieve stress, and beating up foreigners felt satisfying, there was no real need for it. Wasn’t it better to just take it easy?
Chen Xingyan rolled her eyes in exasperation. “Cheng Yao, now our fortunes are tied together. As long as you can win the MMA championship, forget lying around—I’ll even sleep with you if you want!”
“?”
Cheng Yao was stunned, completely unprepared for such a promise from Chen Xingyan.
…
Sleep… with me!?
Cheng Yao’s mind raced. Was the “sleep” Chen Xingyan referred to the same as what he was thinking?
This… didn’t seem right…
After all, sigh…
Seeing his silence, a sly glint flashed in Chen Xingyan’s eyes.
Kid, you’re still too green to play games with me. As if I don’t know what’s on your mind?
It was already the twenty-first century; this whole master-disciple thing was just for fun. She hadn’t really taught Cheng Yao anything, so there was nothing ethically questionable about it—it was just a way to help Chen Ruiyong keep Cheng Yao at the gym.
As for his intentions, as if girls were fools.
She’d finally met someone interesting—this was fate, and of course Chen Xingyan wanted to enjoy it as much as possible.
The key was, this kid actually had some talent.
Join the MMA? That part was true, but the reward was just something she said offhand. On those international professional circuits, at best Cheng Yao would be an early-round exit. Winning a championship was out of the question. So, her promise was as good as nonexistent.
Confident, arms crossed, Chen Xingyan asked, “So? Tempted?”
To be honest, Chen Xingyan really knew how to push his buttons, and he felt the urge to take up the challenge!
“I’m not that kind of person…”
“What a shame.” Chen Xingyan sighed. Maybe she’d misjudged Cheng Yao—after all, she’d always ignored those sneaky looks from him.
“But…”
“?”
Chen Xingyan rolled her eyes. She took her previous words back—this guy was totally a pervert, just a quiet one.
She regarded him like an idiot, expression calm, just watching him.
Cheng Yao cleared his throat and said, “As a member of the mixed martial arts community, I ought to contribute to our field. So I’m willing to participate in MMA. Let’s show those foreigners what we’re made of…”

“All right, all right, enough!”
“...”
Noticing the way Chen Xingyan looked at him as if he were a clown, Cheng Yao didn’t feel the least bit embarrassed. As long as he didn’t feel awkward, it was others who would.
Chen Xingyan smiled slyly. “Kid, you really have ulterior motives…”
Right back at you, Cheng Yao thought, grinning foolishly. When it came to acting, he was never afraid of anyone!
“But anyway, my word is my bond. If you win the MMA championship, it’s just sleeping with you, right? I could even be your girlfriend!”
Cheng Yao said helplessly, “I’m really not doing it for anything else, just want to contribute to MMA. Anyway, someone like me would probably be out in the first round—championship is impossible…”
Yes, impossible for now. But if he got lucky and got hold of a genetic capsule along the way, then who knew.
Hehe.
Cheng Yao felt a bit sly, looking at Chen Xingyan as if she were a fool. Setting herself up like this—brilliant.
“Don’t worry, I keep my promises,” Chen Xingyan said. “It’s settled.”
“You… sigh…”
Cheng Yao said nothing more. He really didn’t want to sleep with Chen Xingyan…
A touch of helplessness lingered. Things had developed so differently from what he’d imagined.
Chen Xingyan patted his shoulder. “From now on, we’re brothers—let’s strive together in the world of MMA.”
She hadn’t expected Cheng Yao to take the bait so easily. This was getting more interesting.
“From now on, we’ll visit other gyms every day. By next April, your skills will have improved by leaps and bounds.”
“Next April is still a way off.”
“It’ll come quickly…”
Cheng Yao glanced at Chen Xingyan, a faint smile on his lips. Xingyan, for the sake of the school’s revival, I’ll just have to trouble you to make some sacrifices.
“Shall we get something to eat?”
“Let’s go.”
After a shower at the gym and changing back into his own clothes, they went downstairs. Chen Xingyan looked at Cheng Yao. “Where’s your car?”
“Didn’t drive today, a friend dropped me off.”
“Get in.”
He opened the door and climbed into the G-Wagon. It was his first time in one, and the height and commanding view impressed him.
He actually found himself liking this style. Sitting up high felt open and unconfined, unlike the cramped feeling of a sedan.
“Didn’t expect the interior to be so small.”
“It’s perfect for a girl like me—guys will feel cramped.”
Cheng Yao nodded. The seats could be raised, but both the width and legroom were limited. It wasn’t as spacious as a Range Rover; tall people would find their legs cramped.
However, the car’s chassis had excellent sound insulation, and the high seating meant you could barely hear road noise.
But—
The better the insulation, the more noticeable the interior rattles and creaks became.
Cheng Yao, now something of a car expert, understood these things well.
“There are quite a few odd noises.”
“Mm…”
When the AC was on, the left driver’s door would make a whistling sound from the airflow—a result of poor sealing between the door panel and window.
Chen Xingyan stuffed a piece of paper in the gap, and the noise improved a lot.
Cheng Yao examined the interior. Mercedes interiors needed no comment—the brand was known for them. The exterior was boxy and wild. Other than the awkward price, everything else was great.
“I’ll get one of these someday. How’s the comfort?”
“It’s so-so. I’d recommend you don’t buy this one. If you want something, get the Mercedes E300 coupe. That’s really comfortable. If not for the view in this car, I wouldn’t have bought it, either.”
It didn’t take long for them to reach a quiet bar in Xinjiekou.
After parking, Chen Xingyan glanced at Cheng Yao, who followed behind her. “You haven’t told anyone about us, have you?”
“No, don’t worry.”
“Mm…”
Chen Xingyan didn’t quite understand—did it matter whether people knew? Especially for those who weren’t into martial arts.
Inside, the bar was tranquil. Despite its location, it was still busy, and the luxury cars outside drew plenty of fashionable young women—this place had class and looked high-end.
It wasn’t like the chaos of ordinary bars—no freeloaders, and though there were gold-diggers, they had their own means, coming from good families and looking attractive.
“Well, if it isn’t Cheng Yao. Haven’t seen you for days—you’re looking even better.”
“Likewise. I just bumped into Chen Xingyan on the way and she brought me over.”
Qin Haoran grinned, pulling up a photo on his phone. “Is this you?”
Cheng Yao glanced at the photo and nodded helplessly. The sunglasses and Patek Philippe on his wrist were unmistakable—others might not notice, but his friends would recognize him at a glance.
Chen Xingyan laughed. “It’s not what you think. He’s not my boyfriend.”
“How do you know?” Qin Haoran looked them over, sensing something off. Why were Chen Xingyan and Cheng Yao so close?
“I asked him before. Let him explain. I’ll have a cocktail…”
As one of the resident rich girls, Lin Sujiao draped her arm over Cheng Yao’s shoulder, smiling. “Cheng Yao, you’re really not Xia Shiqi’s boyfriend?”
“Really not. We’re not even in the same circle…”
Cheng Yao explained, and everyone understood. Qin Haoran’s eyes widened. “So that’s how it is. Next time, get your aunt to help me ask for a celebrity’s autograph, okay?”
“Sure.”
Qin Haoran’s bar snacks were good—Cheng Yao especially liked the chicken wings and fried chicken.
As Qin Haoran munched on peanuts, he asked, “How’s your company?”
“It’s on track. I’ve got a friend managing it—signed a bunch of internet celebrities. Signing fees are high, but they bring in a lot of traffic…”
“With things going so well now, it’s almost guaranteed to make money. It’s just a matter of how much.”
Qin Haoran smiled. Guys like them never lacked ways to make money. They just didn’t want to get involved with their families—carving out their own success felt more rewarding.
He leaned in and said quietly, “Drinks tonight? Got a few girls from Civil Aviation University, played here yesterday. They’re all stunners. We’re heading to a club, my treat.”
“Not interested. Too noisy, and I have to go to a parent-teacher meeting tomorrow.”
If there weren’t any women, maybe, but Cheng Yao wasn’t lacking in that department these days. He had no interest in suffering through a noisy bar.
“No way!”
“What parent-teacher meeting?”
Cheng Yao explained helplessly, “My family’s all abroad. I have a little sister here…”
“Not much you can do then…”
Cheng Yao glanced at Qin Haoran, then at the top of his head. What a player—he claimed to like Chen Xingyan, but was secretly meeting up with girls from Civil Aviation University.
After a bite to eat and a game of pool with Zhou Qing, it was already nine-thirty.
The mall was about to close when Lin Ketong finally messaged.
Phone in hand, Cheng Yao turned to Chen Xingyan. “Something’s come up. I’ll head off first.”
“Bye.”
Chen Xingyan, not even looking up, was playing a game with Lin Sujiao.
