Chapter 137: Women Are All Enchantresses
"Oh, hello!" Ye Tian suddenly jumped up, startling the maid. "Beautiful lady, what is your name?" Ye Tian reached out and took the maid's soft little hand, causing her to blush instantly.
"Mr. Gray, the young mistress is looking for you!" The maid tried to gently pull her hand away, but Ye Tian held it firmly. Since he only gripped it lightly without any further advances, the girl did not find it too objectionable.
"Beautiful lady, you know my name, but I don't know yours. That's not fair!" Ye Tian said with a grin, still holding her hand. "If you don't tell me, I won't let go."
"Pfft!" The maid burst into laughter. "Mr. Gray, how are you like a little child?"
"Hehe, I am a little child, after all!" Ye Tian said shamelessly.
"Alright, the young mistress is waiting for you!" The maid rolled her eyes playfully. Ye Tian gently shook her hand. "My name is Konia. There, are you happy? Please let me go now," the maid said, feigning anger.
"Certainly!" Ye Tian released her hand. As Konia pulled her hand back, she noticed a delicate ring on her finger that hadn't been there before. She couldn't help but lift her hand to admire it.
"Do you like it?" Ye Tian asked with a smile.
"It's truly beautiful." Konia sighed and took the ring off. "Here, back to you."
"You don't like it?" Ye Tian asked, puzzled.
"It's not that. It just doesn't suit me." Konia smiled.
"Oh, so you dislike me, and now I have no choice but to throw it away." Ye Tian said this to the ring, then made a motion as if to throw it away.
"Don't throw it!" Konia cried out in alarm, hurriedly grabbing Ye Tian's arm.
"It was meant for you, but since you don't want it, I have no use for it either. I might as well discard it." Ye Tian said, preparing to throw it again.
"I want it, alright?" Konia extended her slender finger. "Help me put it back on."
"As you wish." Ye Tian carefully slipped it back onto her finger.
"Hehe, you're such a silly person!" Konia teased. "Let's go, I'll take you to the mistress."
"Mistress, Mr. Gray has arrived." Refie was staring out the window in a daze when Konia led Ye Tian inside.
"Thank you!" Ye Tian whispered in the maid's ear. She glanced at him and walked away with a giggle.
"What's wrong? Are you not in a good mood?" Ye Tian asked.
"I just had an argument with my father. Now he wants me to change my clothes to attend a banquet held by Prince Gistark tonight." Refie gazed into the distance, her voice drifting.
"That's a good thing, why not go?" Ye Tian said with a grin.
"Hmph!" Refie shot him a sharp look before returning to her view of the scenery.
"Go, it'll be a chance for me to see the world as well."
"Help me pick a new hairstyle," Refie said angrily. "The most beautiful one!"
Ye Tian laughed. "What, still want to see me make a fool of myself? Don't worry, I promise to satisfy you. Since we have time now, why don't we go for a stroll?"
"What are you up to?" Refie asked, suspicious.
"Nothing, just going for a walk," Ye Tian said with a smile. "What, you don't want to?"
"Hmph, fine, let's go! But you're carrying the bags!" Refie said through gritted teeth.
"Have mercy!"
Without bringing any other servants, the two of them went out together. Aside from having fun, Ye Tian wanted to get familiar with the area, intending to pay visits to some people later if he could find their addresses.
"This is Count Leviathan's mansion. Are you done yet? Let's go shopping!" Refie said, biting into a piece of candy with dissatisfaction.
"Done, done. Let's head out." Ye Tian silently noted the address and smiled at Refie.
"Refie!" Just then, a gorgeously dressed young girl called out to them.
"Julie!" Refie called back delightedly.
"Who is that?" Ye Tian asked softly.
"Julie Gale Lambert? The daughter of Count Gale, my close friend," Refie explained in a low voice.
"Oh! So you actually have friends!" Ye Tian joked, which earned him a sharp kick from Refie.
"Ouch!" Ye Tian whispered.
"Hmph!" Refie gave his foot a firm grind before letting him be.
"Julie, long time no see," Refie said to the girl who had run over. She was a petite young lady, not even reaching Refie's shoulder, and looked quite charming.
"Honestly! You didn't even let me know when you got back!" the girl complained.
"I just returned, you know how it is," Refie said helplessly. "Oh, who is he?"
"Greetings, honorable Miss Julie. I am Miss Refie's butler, Gray," Ye Tian greeted elegantly.
"Hello, I'm Julie!" Miss Julie returned the courtesy gracefully. Just then, a maid carrying a mountain of packages came running over, breathless. "Mistress, Mistress!" Suddenly, she tripped, and the packages tumbled to the ground with a clatter.
"Watch out!" Ye Tian spun around, catching the maid, and then moved with the speed of the wind to retrieve the falling gift boxes, piling them safely to the side.
"Oh, thank you!" The maid climbed up, blushing, and then took two steps back, accidentally knocking over the pile Ye Tian had just organized.
Ye Tian hurriedly caught the girl again and steadied her.
"Still as lively as ever!" Refie laughed.
"Miss Refie, long time no see!" The maid greeted her quickly.
"Honestly, if you can't carry them all, just have them delivered. Did you hurt yourself?" Julie asked, checking the maid while complaining.
"I'm fine, Mistress, don't worry." She glanced at Ye Tian, her face flushed.
"Oho, Refie, this butler of yours is quite good!" Julie nudged her friend. "Mr. Gray, would you be interested in joining us for a stroll?" Julie asked.
"That depends on the mistress's wishes," Ye Tian replied respectfully.
"Well then, let's go shopping!" Julie pleaded, tugging on Refie's arm.
"Haven't you shopped enough?" Refie tapped her on the forehead. "Look, Konia can't even carry any more!"
"But I want to go! Please, pretty please!" Julie looked up, pleading.
"I give up on you. You can look, but no buying!"
"That's so boring!" Julie pouted her cute lips.
"I'll handle it," Ye Tian said with a smile, reaching out to gather the boxes beside Konia and lifting them with ease.
"Gray, you're so strong! What level are you?" Julie asked with a smile.
"Uh, oh, I'm an intermediate swordsman," Ye Tian said.
"Can you use battle aura?" Julie continued.
"Just a little bit," Ye Tian replied with a smile.
"No wonder." Julie looked at Refie with a grin.
"Why are you looking at me?" Refie said, annoyed.
"Your butler is so impressive! How about we trade?" Julie said slyly.
"No way." Refie refused flatly.
"Ugh, you're so stingy!" Julie spun around, pouting. "Then you're paying today!"
"Why?" Refie asked.
"You found such a great butler, of course you have to splurge, right?" Julie leaned over to whisper in Refie's ear, which caused a blush to spread across Refie's fair face. She immediately started chasing Julie in a playful rage.
"Thank you for earlier!" Konia whispered to Ye Tian.
"It was nothing," Ye Tian smiled. "Have your mistress and my mistress known each other since childhood?"
"Yes, they are very close friends," Konia said.
"I'm new to the capital and don't understand many things. I hope you'll guide me in the future, Miss Konia," Ye Tian said with a grin.
"Oh no, I'm quite dim-witted and always making mistakes. If it weren't for my mistress, I probably would have been fired long ago," Konia said, looking downcast.
"That's not true. You're very hardworking, I can tell!" Ye Tian said with a smile. "Hardworking people deserve the most praise, and you are no exception!"
"Really?" Konia lowered her head, shyly.
"Oho, Gray, do you have your eye on our Konia? You'll have to work hard; many people are coveting her. Let me tell you, if you weren't a good person, I wouldn't dream of handing Konia over to you!" Julie said playfully.
"Mistress, what are you saying!" Konia's face turned beet red.
"Oho!" Julie’s eyes twinkled with mischief. She looked at Ye Tian, then whispered something into her maid's ear, causing the girl's face to flush even deeper as she chased Julie again.
"They seem to have such a great relationship," Ye Tian remarked.
"Of course. Konia grew up with Julie. Although they are mistress and servant, they are more like sisters. You know, in noble families, girls are rarely treated well," Refie explained softly.
"I see." Ye Tian sighed. It seemed that the preference for sons over daughters was the same everywhere. Unless a girl attained a certain status, her fate would never be in her own hands.
Just then, the sound of hoofbeats came from nearby. As they looked up, Refie's expression darkened.
"What's wrong?" Ye Tian asked.
"Nick is back," Refie sighed softly.
Ye Tian glanced over; he didn't recognize him, but since Refie said he was back, she must know him. Fortunately, Julie didn't make a scene; she pulled Refie aside to hide. As the sound of hooves faded into the distance, Julie whispered, "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine. Let's go, let's keep shopping!" Refie was already feeling frustrated; since everything was going wrong today, she decided to vent!
"Yes, yes!" Julie agreed instantly.
"Does it look good?" Refie emerged wearing a high-slit gown, her fair, long legs exposed, drawing everyone's gaze. "Does it not look good?" Refie's expression dimmed, and she covered half her face with her hand.
"Pfft!" Ye Tian felt like he was coughing up blood and quickly looked away. A devil, she was absolutely a devil. That shy expression combined with such a sultry figure made anyone want to protect her—in bed!
"Gray, Gray, do I look good?" Julie, not wanting to be outdone, came out in a pink princess dress, complete with a cute little hat, looking incredibly playful.
"You look beautiful!" Ye Tian said respectfully.
"That's so insincere!" Julie pouted. "How is it cute?"
"Uh," Ye Tian paused. "Like the sunlight of summer—so dazzling one can't bear to look away."
"Hehe, I love that!" Julie spun around happily.
"And me?" Refie, not willing to lose, twirled over to Ye Tian and gently lifted his chin.
"Mistress, your image, watch your image!" Ye Tian whispered.
"I don't care. If you can't say something that pleases me, I'll buy every dress here today and make you carry them all back!" Refie threatened.
"Ugh, you devil," Ye Tian muttered.
"What did you say?" Refie hadn't heard him.
"I said, you have a look that makes one want to take you to bed!" Ye Tian suddenly smiled wickedly, leaning close to Refie's ear.
Boom! Refie’s face turned crimson. She had always been the one to tease others while they fled, but she hadn't expected to be teased by this young man. Yet, why was there such a strange feeling in her heart?
"Refie, are you okay?" Julie noticed Refie's blush and asked quickly.
"Oh, I'm fine, it's just a bit hot," Refie explained. Julie looked at Refie’s airy dress suspiciously—this was hot?
"Honorable mistress, would you like to try another outfit?" Ye Tian said, smiling as he handed her another dress.
"Hmph!" Refie gave him a hateful glare and snatched the dress, heading into the changing room. Julie, too, grabbed the dress Konia offered and disappeared into the changing room. A moment later, shrieks came from inside.
"Is everything alright?" Ye Tian whispered to Konia.
"It's fine. The mistress and Miss Refie are always like this when they're together," Konia explained, blushing.
"What are they doing in there?" Ye Tian asked, puzzled.
"Mr. Gray, it's better if you don't ask. Everything is fine," Konia's face grew redder.
"Oh, really!" Ye Tian gave a wicked smile and started to step forward. Konia was startled and hurriedly pulled him back. "Mr. Gray, what are you doing?"
"Going in to protect the mistress," Ye Tian said, turning around. "Didn't you hear my mistress screaming?"
Konia's face turned deep red. She hesitated, then stood on tiptoes and whispered something into Ye Tian's ear. He paused, then gave a wicked laugh.
"Mr. Gray, you are truly wicked!" Konia turned away in anger. "Don't tell Miss Refie it was me who told you."
"Then what should I say?" Ye Tian rubbed his nose. "That I saw it by accident?"
"Mr. Gray, you're too bad!" Konia turned back, her eyes brimming with tears.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I was just joking. Don't be angry, it's my fault!" Ye Tian panicked and apologized immediately.
"Mr. Gray, you're too bad!" Konia's eyes sparkled with tears that were about to fall.
"I surrender. I apologize, alright? As a sincere apology, this is for you!" Ye Tian flipped his hand, and a beautiful bracelet appeared.
"I'm sorry, don't be angry anymore!" Ye Tian gently took Konia's soft, boneless hand and slid the bracelet onto her wrist. "Don't be angry," he said with a smile.
"Hmph." Konia pulled her hand back and hid it behind her back, gently stroking the bracelet.
"I'm done changing! Gray, look at me, do I look good?" Julie jumped out. Ye Tian’s jaw nearly hit the floor. Julie had changed into a fiery red evening gown, the off-shoulder design exposing her fair, fragrant shoulders, making her look incredibly sexy.
The hem was cut asymmetrically with frayed ruffles, making it look both sexy and playful. Julie put her hands on her hips, rested her chin on her hand, and gave Ye Tian a flirtatious wink.
"I'm dizzy!" Ye Tian covered his face and quickly turned away.
"Does it not look good?" Julie ran over and gently tugged on his arm.
"Don't, don't!" Ye Tian felt like his neck was about to snap.
"Tell me, do I look good?" Julie insisted.
"Yes, you do," Ye Tian said, muffled.
"You're not sincere! Turn around!" Julie tried to turn his head, but since there was a height difference, she couldn't reach. "Konia, come help!" Julie said, annoyed.
"Fine, fine, I'll turn around." Ye Tian turned, and once again, he was met with a sea of white. His nose immediately began to itch.
"Hey, Gray, your nose is bleeding!" Julie said, puzzled.
"Miss Julie is just too beautiful!" Ye Tian said helplessly, reaching out to grab a white shawl to drape over her.
"Hey, you have good taste!" Julie looked at the shawl on her shoulders with curiosity, then ran to the mirror to check, swaying her waist. "It fits well, and the color matches perfectly."
"Thank you, Gray." Julie giggled, grabbing his arm and swaying it back and forth. "Hey, why are you bleeding again?"
"Miss Julie!" Ye Tian grabbed her. "I strongly suggest you don't wear this outfit. Wasn't the previous one better?"
"No, that one was too childish. This one fits so well!" Julie said with a grin.
"Then stop grabbing my wrist and shaking me—it's going to be the death of me!" Ye Tian said helplessly.
"Hehe, really?" Julie smiled and pulled at her neckline with one hand. "Do you want to see? If you're willing, I'll allow it!"
