Chapter 117: A Visitor Arrives
Chapter 117: A Visitor Arrives
“All right, all right, may I ask who wants to eat some delicious roast chicken?” Ye Tian helplessly used food as a lure.
“I want some!” Eve immediately raised her small hand high. “I want to eat! I want to eat!”
“Okay then, let’s hurry back,” Ye Tian said, hoisting the gear off the ground. “Isabella, let’s go!”
“Hmph!” Isabella made a silly face at Eve, then quickly floated over and perched on Ye Tian’s back. For some reason, staying there always made her feel safe.
“Roast chicken, roast chicken!” Eve happily made her way down the mountain with Jerry.
“Jerry, once we get back I’ll help treat Eve,” Ye Tian called over his shoulder.
“Oh, thank you!” Jerry said, turning back to hold Eve’s small hand. “Slow down, watch your step.”
“Hehe!” Eve smiled at Jerry, obediently following him down slowly.
“Gray, I want some chicken soup too!” Eve shouted loudly.
“All right! We have both chicken soup and roast chicken. Today, we’ll eat our fill!” Ye Tian smiled back. “I guarantee you’ll be satisfied!”
“Yay!” Eve jumped up happily. “Slow down.”
Jerry adjusted the gear on his back gently. “Watch your step, we haven’t even reached the bottom yet.”
“Oh!” Eve obediently stopped jumping around.
“Hehe, Gray, look at her,” Isabella tugged on Ye Tian’s ear. “You treat me like that too.”
“Uh, better not,” Ye Tian replied, speechless.
“What, don’t you think I’m pretty?” Isabella floated over to Ye Tian and put her hands on her hips. “Or don’t you like my figure?”
“You have it all! All of it!” Ye Tian replied perfunctorily.
“What?” Isabella immediately got angry. “How dare you say I’m not pretty or that my figure isn’t good!”
Ghostly Isabella immediately floated in front of Ye Tian and twisted his nose hard.
“I’m about to sneeze, ha!” Ye Tian’s voice buzzed, then he pretended to open his mouth wide.
“Yuck, so dirty!” Isabella quickly let go and floated far away.
“By the way, Isabella, I’ve always wanted to ask you—have you ever washed your clothes?” Ye Tian asked quickly, seeing the girl about to get angry.
“Wash what? My clothes are conjured up. Of course, I can have no clothes too. Want to see?” Isabella lightly tugged at the collar on her outfit.
“There’s nothing underneath, why look?” Ye Tian pouted.
“Who says that? Mine’s very big, okay!” Isabella immediately floated close, displeased. “If you say I don’t have it, you’re asking for trouble!”
“Can you change into other clothes?” Ye Tian dodged. “It’s always this outfit; that’s a bit weird.”
“What kind of clothes do you want to see?” Isabella asked angrily.
“That one you wear on your bed,” Ye Tian said.
Isabella blushed immediately, though being a ghost, no one could see it except Ye Tian.
“No!” Isabella rejected instantly.
“How about the one Eve is wearing?” Ye Tian asked.
“No way! I don’t want to wear the same thing as a little girl!” Isabella pouted.
“You seem like a little girl too, just that you’ve been dead longer,” Ye Tian said, scratching his nose.
“I’m an adult—I’m already sixteen, grown up!” Isabella blurted out.
“Oh, so you’re still a kid,” Ye Tian smiled cheekily.
“Hmph!” Isabella immediately turned her head and floated off to the side on her own.
Back at the camp, Ye Tian tossed down the gear and busied himself with chores. Isabella sulked and dove into the prayer beads for cultivation. As for Jerry, after calming Eve, he began caring for the horses. The once plump and strong horses had lost some weight these days but still looked spirited.
“Hey, any problems?” Jerry asked the little eagle perched on the horse’s head.
Since Ye Tian and the others had entered the mountains and couldn’t care for the two animals, they had put the little eagle on the horse’s head. Surprisingly, this worked well; even without reins, the horse wouldn’t run off because the little fellow would peck it if it tried.
“Eat more, you’ve suffered enough!” Jerry stroked the horse. Yes, it was a fine horse of considerable value, and Ye Tian was indeed generous.
Jerry looked toward the distant forest and sighed. In a few days, he would be leaving. He was a bit reluctant, not for any other reason, but because being with Ye Tian made him feel especially safe.
Looking at Eve, Jerry silently tightened his grip on the reins. The girl was his everything; for her, he was willing to give everything.
“What are you thinking about?” Ye Tian bounced out with two wild chickens. “Nothing,” Jerry smiled. “I’m really sorry.”
“What are you talking about? Meeting is fate. Back home, we have a saying: ‘If destined, even a thousand miles will bring us together; if not, meeting is just a coincidence.’ Our meeting is fate, so don’t be so calculative.” Ye Tian tossed down the chickens. “Wait a moment, I just saw a big rabbit. I’ll be right back!” With that, he turned and dove into the woods again.
Jerry smiled and looked around. “Eve, don’t move, I’ll be back soon!” He lifted the wild chickens. “There’s something tasty coming!”
“Okay, okay, I won’t move. Hurry back!” Eve sat on a tree stump.
“Don’t worry,” Jerry said with a smile. “Wait for me!” He headed to the water source. The official mining area was some distance away, so the water source was remote; otherwise, Ye Tian would have fetched some water.
“Giddy up, giddy up!” When Jerry returned with the cleaned wild chickens, he suddenly saw a group of riders approaching the camp.
“Jerry! Jerry!” Eve was grabbed by a tall man, struggling desperately.
“Jerry! Jerry!” Eve cried loudly.
“Let go of her!” Jerry threw down the wild chickens, drew a dagger, and charged at the group.
“Hey, Jerry, long time no see!” a burly man wielding a giant axe laughed. “Are your wounds healed yet?”
“Seeking death!” Jerry suddenly blurred, appearing behind the burly man. His dagger plunged directly into the man’s neck.
“Impressive!” The others nearby weren’t saddened by the man’s instant death but couldn’t help but praise Jerry.
Bang! The burly man collapsed, and Jerry jumped aside.
“Captain, we should increase the bountyI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
