Chapter 126: Night
Chapter 126: Night
After escorting Reicina back to her small courtyard, Ye Tian returned to his dormitory. Ice and fire! After taking a shower, Ye Tian lay on his bed with his eyes closed, reflecting on the day’s events. Suddenly, he felt a weight pressing down on him, and a low voice whispered in his ear, “How do the queen’s fragrant lips taste?”
Ye Tian opened his eyes to see a stunning woman leaning over him. His gaze flickered with recognition, but he couldn’t quite place her, so he said, “Beauty, how about you don’t press down on a normal man like this? You’ll be the one at a disadvantage!”
The woman paused, then laughed softly. “Oh? And what disadvantage would that be?” Her hand slid beneath Ye Tian’s robe, moving lower and lower.
“Alright, I admit defeat!” Ye Tian reluctantly raised the white flag.
“That’s not like you at all!” The woman continued to explore, but Ye Tian quickly grabbed her wrist. “Beauty, do you know you’re playing with fire?”
“Is that so? Then I’d like to feel the flames burn me,” she whispered close to his ear.
“Good grief! Why are there so many female predators these days?” Ye Tian was speechless. Ever since arriving in this world, he seemed to encounter nothing but daring women like this—each bolder than the last. “Alright, what brings you here? You’re not just here to tease me, are you?”
“Bingo, you got it right.” The woman lifted her head. “Don’t you remember me?”
Ye Tian studied her—she was breathtakingly beautiful, dressed in tight black attire that accentuated her curves. Suddenly, he felt embarrassed.
“Heh, quite a reaction!” she chuckled. “Alright then, shall I give you a hint?”
Ye Tian shrank back, feeling weak. Just a little provocation and he dared look up—too shameful!
“It’s only been half a year, and you don’t remember me? I still remember you—my stomach still aches because of you!” she said softly.
“You’re… Shadow?” Ye Tian frowned, finally recalling that she was the assassin who worked for Rudy. Back then, she had been wrapped up so tightly he only knew it was a woman but had never seen her face.
“What are you doing here? Revenge?” Ye Tian asked helplessly.
“Do you think I can beat you?” Shadow smiled slyly.
“No.”
“You’re not modest.”
“I’m just honest. So what are you here for? To sleep with me?”
Shadow was momentarily stunned, then laughed, “That’s the idea.”
“Too bad I’m not interested!” Ye Tian twisted his body and flipped to the side. “If there’s nothing else, go away. I want to sleep!”
“Don’t you hate me?” Shadow asked.
“Why would I hate you?”
“Even if I killed Lola with my own hands?”
Shadow rose, adjusting her clothes. Bang! Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her neck and was slammed heavily against the wall.
Feeling the strength of the large hand on her neck, Shadow looked into the young man’s grim expression. For some reason, a faint smile curved the corner of her lips. Bang! Suddenly, she was thrown onto the bed. “Go away. I don’t want to see you!”
“Cough, cough, why don’t you kill me?” Shadow looked at Ye Tian puzzled. “Don’t you hate me?”
“Hate!” Ye Tian glanced at her. “Lola is already dead. Even if you die too, she won’t come back. And there have been enough deaths already.”
“You really are a strange man.” Shadow coughed a few times, then sat beside Ye Tian and gently took his right hand. “Even though you hate me, you hold back from killing me. Why?”
“In my heart, life is the most precious thing!” Ye Tian said gloomily, trying to pull his hand away, but Shadow held on tightly.
“You know, I once made a promise with Lola—I would marry her!” Shadow said, placing Ye Tian’s hand on her neck. “Kill me, consider it me begging you!”
“Get out!” Ye Tian’s anger flared.
“I loved Lola. From the moment I plunged the dagger into her belly, I decided to join her in death. But do you know what she asked of me at the end? She wanted me to live!”
Tears streamed down Shadow’s face. “Kill me. Please, you have the right!”
“I have no right!” Ye Tian withdrew his hand firmly. “Every life is precious. I have no reason, no right to take it away!”
“You really are an odd one!” Shadow smiled bitterly, then stood and slowly unzipped her clothing, letting the tight suit fall away. She walked before Ye Tian and gently placed his hand on her chest. “If you won’t kill me, don’t you want revenge?”
Ye Tian’s breath quickened. Shadow pressed close and kissed him softly on the lips. Ye Tian grabbed her tightly and kissed her back fiercely.
“Mmm.” Shadow moaned softly but didn’t pull away.
Suddenly Ye Tian pushed her away. “This isn’t fair!”
“The world has never been fair,” Shadow murmured, pressing against him. “I’m a shameless woman, so you can do whatever you want to me.”
“Why do you degrade yourself like this?” Ye Tian asked.
“I swore to marry Lola, but she broke her promise. So now I want revenge—I want to take away the man she loves!” Tears fell from Shadow’s eyes.
Ye Tian looked deeply into her eyes, then gently cupped her delicate face and kissed her lightly before letting go. “Tell me, what’s your name?”
“No, don’t ask me,” Shadow said fearfully.
“Tell me your name,” Ye Tian said seriously. “You are you, Lola is Lola. No one can replace another.”
“Morra,” Shadow whispered through tears. “Call me Morra.”
“My name is Ye Tian. I don’t belong to this country,” Ye Tian said earnestly, and kissed her once more. Slowly, slowly, the two fell onto the bed.
Night deepened. Only Ye Tian’s room remained lit, where two shadows struggled with each other—so intensely, so passionately, as if they wished to fuse into one.
Morra woke groggily. They hadn’t known when they fell asleep last night, maybe not even sleeping at all. Ye Tian was too strong; even she hadn’t endured such an ordeal before. Though she had tried to endure and accommodate him, it was clear Ye Tian felt some hesitation.
Eventually, Morra drifted back into a heavy sleep, utterly exhausted. In her dream, Lola smiled sweetly at her, and she returned the smile. Suddenly, Lola died in her arms. Morra awoke with a start and saw Ye Tian watching her with open eyes.
“Bad dream?” Ye Tian gently brushed hair from Morra’s forehead and asked softly.
Only then did Morra realize she was curled tightly in Ye Tian’s arms, clutching his waist desperately as she tried to rise.
“Don’t move. It’s best if you don’t get up today,” Ye Tian said, pressing her back down. “Last night was wild. You won’t be able to handle it now!”
Morra blushed deeply.
“You look better when you smile,” Ye Tian suddenly said.
“Let me hold you a little longer,” Morra whispered, hugging Ye Tian’s neck. “Before you leave, please let me hold you a little longer.” It had long been her deepest wish—she never imagined she would get even a day.
“As long as you want, you can hold me forever,” Ye Tian said, stroking her cheek.
Morra buried her face in his embrace and shook her head softly.
“You don’t want that?” Ye Tian asked.
“You’ll never stop moving forward, so I won’t hold you back,” Morra said gloomily.
Ye Tian didn’t reply, only caressing her face gently.
“If, if one day you decide to stop, please let me stay by your side, okay?”
Ye Tian nodded softly, then leaned over to kiss Morra’s lips. She immediately wrapped her arms around his neck, returning his kiss with passion.
“Thank you, thank you, Ger—no, Ye Tian.”
Surprisingly, neither Akarnala nor Leila came to knock on the door. Ye Tian and Morra slept until noon before slowly rising.
“Want to sleep a little more?” Ye Tian asked.
Morra smiled without speaking, wrapping her arms around Ye Tian’s neck and kissing him deeply. After a long moment, she sighed and let go. “If you ever get tired, please stop.”
“Did you sleep well?” Ye Tian went to Reicina’s small courtyard, where the queen sipped tea elegantly. “You didn’t go?”
Ye Tian glanced around; only Leila was present, but he didn’t say anything further.
“Oh, still waiting for something!” Reicina put down her cup, smiling.
“I’m hungry!” The queen daintily wiped her lips with a handkerchief.
“Uh, I was just about to tell you I’m heading out,” Ye Tian said awkwardly.
Reicina sighed. “Maybe it’s time to change butlers. Everyone nowadays is too busy, even neglecting their own duties.”
“That one has things to do!” Ye Tian scratched his head. “That’s all I’ll say. I’m off then. You’re safe here anyway.”
“Come back early,” Reicina said, continuing to sip her tea.
“That’s uncertain.” Before she finished, Ye Tian had already vanished.
“Your Majesty, about yesterday...” Leila asked cautiously.
“Nothing happened yesterday,” Reicina said coolly. “You didn’t see anything, understand?”
“Yes!” Leila nodded quickly.
“By the way, do you like Gray?”
Clatter! The teapot Leila held fell, and she hurriedly knelt to pick it up. “Sorry, Your Majesty!”
“You’d better not think that way. It will only bring you heartache,” Reicina sighed, speaking to Leila, who was still bowed low.
Leila silently finished cleaning up, then bowed. “Your Majesty, would you like to dine?”
“Thank you for your trouble!” Reicina set down her cup and rose, walking with Leila to the dining room.
“Hey! You’re here!” Ralph grinned slyly at Ye Tian. “What’s up? Got some good news?”
Ye Tian looked puzzled. “Go see for yourself!”
Ralph pointed to the room beside them.
“Give it to me! Tell me whatever you want—I’ll say it all. Someone! Someone! Help!” Ye Tian was startled by the piercing screams as soon as he entered.
“Did you hit him?” Ye Tian whispered.
“Don’t be ridiculous! That’s your doing. Don’t pin it on me!” The old man spat lightly. “I have to admit, your stuff really works. Not long after you left, this was the result. Good grief, I’m glad I never tried it,” Ralph said with lingering fear.
“So some things you just won’t believe until you see the harm for yourself,” Ye Tian shook his head and stepped further inside.
“By the way, is this room soundproof?”
“Don’t worry. Not even a level-nine magical blast would make a sound in here,” the old man said dismissively.
“That’s good!” Ye Tian smiled and looked at the struggling assassin. “Hey, brother, now we can have a chat, right?”
