“Doctor, please check the wound on her forehead first. She accidentally fell just now and hit the table,” Pei Hexuan said, suppressing his emotions as he looked toward the family doctor.

The family doctor immediately stepped forward and carefully examined Bai Qianzhou’s forehead. The wound was shallow and not serious. He then took out a bandage and meticulously dressed the injury.

“Mr. Pei, there’s nothing major. She’s just a bit weak in her blood and qi. Once she wakes up, she should take some good nourishment,” the doctor reassured.

“Alright, thank you for your efforts,” Pei Hexuan nodded slightly, then paused thoughtfully before his tone grew serious. “There’s one more thing. I need you to do me another favor.”

“Please, Mr. Pei, just say the word,” the doctor replied.

Pei Hexuan hesitated for a moment, then plucked two strands of hair from Bai Qianzhou and handed them over. “Compare these with my wife’s DNA.”

“Mr. Pei, are you suspecting…” The doctor’s voice was filled with surprise.

“I hope everything is as I suspect,” Pei Hexuan said, looking at Bai Qianzhou, who was still unconscious.

He had been disappointed too many times before; he hoped this time would be different.

After the doctor left, the butler followed. Pei Hexuan sighed as he gazed at Bai Qianzhou’s face.

“Madam!” The butler came downstairs and saw Bai Lu collapsed weakly on the sofa, stained with fresh blood. Shocked, he immediately called out.

The family doctor hurried over to examine Bai Lu, and hearing the commotion, Pei Hexuan rushed downstairs as well.

“What happened?” he asked urgently.

“Sir, the madam… she seems to have vomited blood and fainted,” the butler stammered.

Pei Hexuan looked at the family doctor who was examining Bai Lu.

“Strange,” the doctor said, straightening up after the examination with a puzzled expression.

“Doctor, what’s the situation?” Pei Hexuan’s voice carried anxiety.

“Mr. Pei, Madam’s pulse is strong; there’s no immediate problem,” the family doctor said, staring at Bai Lu’s flushed face in bafflement.

He had examined Bai Lu before and, though unable to find a clear cause, had noticed her body was obviously weak.

But now, despite vomiting blood and losing consciousness, her body seemed healthier than before.

“Are you certain?”

“As far as I can tell, yes. Otherwise, we can take her to the hospital for a thorough check-up once she wakes up,” the doctor suggested hesitantly.

“Alright,” Pei Hexuan nodded.

The family doctor left to carry out the tasks Pei Hexuan assigned, while Pei Hexuan escorted Bai Lu to the guest room.

He stayed by her side, holding her hand and looking at her much rosier complexion, recalling what Bai Qianzhou had done earlier.

Could Bai Lu’s vomiting blood and collapse be related to Bai Qianzhou burning that straw doll and the talisman inscribed with Bai Lu’s birthdate?

It was hard to say exactly what was going on. He could only wait for Bai Qianzhou to wake up.

Two hours later, Bai Lu slowly regained consciousness. Bai Qianzhou was still unconscious.

“Wife, why did you suddenly faint? Tell me where you’re feeling unwell,” Pei Hexuan asked as he carefully looked her over.

“I don’t really know what happened, but I feel light and comfortable all over now,” Bai Lu said, glancing at herself and then sensing her body. There seemed to be no discomfort.

Even the heavy, weighted feeling she had before had vanished.

“Looks like the little master really succeeded,” Pei Hexuan said joyfully, gripping her hand tightly.

“Succeeded?”

“Yes. The family doctor examined you just now and said your body is fine at the moment, though it’s still best to have a hospital check-up.”

“Where is the little master? I want to thank her properly,” Bai Lu said excitedly, looking at her husband.

She had thought she wouldn’t survive, but unexpectedly, the little master had healed her.

“Well, the little master is resting now—she’s tired. Once she wakes up, we’ll thank her properly. Maybe there will be more surprises later,” Pei Hexuan said, careful not to reveal that the little master was actually the one who had knocked herself out.
