Chapter 19: The Reverse Fortune-Transferring Formation
“No need, no need. I think I’m fine just as I am now,” Pei Yanlin said abruptly, shaking his head.
There’s no shame in being afraid of snakes; everything else is unnecessary!
“That’s a pity. I wanted you to take Little Qing with you when you went out today, so it could protect you. Although Little Qing looks small, it’s very capable.”
“Th-thank you, sister, but there’s no need to have it protect me. I’m not planning to go out today.” Pei Yanlin forced a stiff smile onto his face.
Even if he had initially planned to go out, now he had given up.
“Alright then. If you need anything, just let me know.” Bai Qianzhou lowered her head and gently tucked the little green snake into the pocket of her pajamas. Bailu wanted to stop her but, seeing Bai Qianzhou’s calm expression, swallowed the words back.
“Butler, could you please prepare a few cooked chicken legs for Little Qing? It doesn’t eat raw meat,” Bai Qianzhou turned to the butler, her gaze clear and sincere.
“Yes, Miss.” As the butler turned away, Bai Qianzhou noticed the dimming of his vitality.
In that instant, a golden light flashed in her eyes, revealing the image of a young woman with a swollen belly, weakly collapsing beside a chair, blood staining her legs.
“Butler, is your daughter-in-law about to give birth?” Bai Qianzhou asked, causing the butler’s steps to halt.
“Yes, the due date is in half a month, but she’s been at home recently and hasn’t dared to go out. How did you know, Miss?” The butler smiled.
“Hurry and call your son. She’s alone at home, she fell and is bleeding. If you delay, it could cost both their lives.”
“Ah?” The butler was startled.
“What ‘ah’? Hurry up and call your son, tell him to come home now.” Pei Hexuan looked at the butler as he took out his phone to call emergency services.
Having witnessed Bai Qianzhou’s abilities yesterday, the butler naturally trusted her words and quickly dialed his son and wife.
By the time the ambulance arrived, the daughter-in-law had already lost consciousness. Fortunately, the hospital treatment was timely, and both mother and child were saved—they were safe.
The butler, overwhelmed with gratitude, wanted to kneel before Bai Qianzhou, but she dodged.
She was already unlucky enough; if she accepted the butler’s kowtow, wouldn’t that only bring her more misfortune?
Besides, she had saved a life and deserved merit without needing anyone’s worship. She just wanted to live a few more days.
Pei Hexuan noticed Bai Qianzhou’s resistance and stopped the butler. “Zhouzhou did a reading for you—remember to give her five hundred yuan in cash.”
“Alright, alright, it’s only right.” The butler took out five hundred yuan and respectfully handed it to Bai Qianzhou.
“That’s settled. You’re off duty now. Go visit your grandson at the hospital.” Pei Hexuan sent the butler on his way.
After the butler left, Bai Qianzhou exhaled shakily, still startled by the earlier incident.
“By the way, Zhouzhou, why did you take those things out?” Pei Hexuan’s gaze turned to Bai Qianzhou, a hint of curiosity stirring in his heart.
“I almost forgot. Did someone instruct you on how to arrange these things before, or did you place them randomly?” Bai Qianzhou glanced at the items on the table, a faint dark light flickering in her eyes.
“They were arranged by a feng shui master we specifically hired. He said this arrangement would bring wealth and blessings,” Bailu explained.
“Well, you were deceived by the master. Individually, these items are quite beautiful and valuable. But the arrangement he gave you is a reverse fortune array.”
“A reverse fortune array?”
“Yes. A proper fortune array can enhance your luck, but a reverse one expels the household’s fortune. At best, it causes financial loss and persistent misfortune; at worst, it can lead to death.”
“But we have no enmity with that master, and we paid him. Why would he harm us?” Bailu’s face was filled with confusion, and a growing unease spread through her heart.
