Chapter 105: Flesh Grafting

The Kingdom of Leyton.

The royal palace, underground secret chamber.

A bloody stench hung heavy in the cramped space.

Corpses lay strewn across the room, men and women alike, all of them naked and covered in dense, crisscrossing wounds. Yet, their expressions were strangely serene. Though they had suffered immense torture before death, they seemed to feel no pain. Dark red blood had scabbed over their wounds, while pitch-black pus continuously seeped out.

Lin Wei stood clad in a loose robe, a mask covering his face. He held a sharp scalpel, his snow-white gloves stained with black and red blood.

In front of him lay a shirtless man, unconscious and devoid of all sensation. The fingers of his right hand had been completely severed, and only two remained on his left. At the stump of his right hand, a slightly squirming piece of deep-blue flesh clung tightly to the wound.

"It seems the experimental data is almost fully gathered..." Lin Wei murmured to himself. The eyes visible above his mask held not a shred of pity or excitement.

The test subjects in the room were death row convicts procured by Kaveline. They were all criminals guilty of heinous crimes, sentenced to execution, and some were even destined for horrific torture. After receiving these subjects, Lin Wei had immediately anesthetized them with drugs, which ironically spared these vicious criminals the agony of a living hell.

Lin Wei focused his attention entirely on the blue screen projected onto his retina, which was densely packed with data tracking the changes between the test subjects and the deep-blue flesh.

Because the flesh would vaporize immediately upon being cut and separated, Lin Wei could only graft the entire piece of flesh onto the subject's wound to achieve cellular transplantation.

"It seems the method calculated by the Orb Core to integrate the human body with the deep-blue flesh is successful..." Lin Wei muttered as he looked at the growing pool of data. "Since repeated tests have shown no issues, it is time to begin the experiment on myself..."

*Squelch!*

Lin Wei glanced at the middle-aged man before him and plunged the scalpel straight into his heart.

"A man who deserved to be sliced to pieces gets to find release just like this..." Lin Wei's faint chuckle echoed softly through the quiet, cramped room.

Lin Wei casually tossed the middle-aged man's corpse off the table and picked up the deep-blue flesh.

"According to the plan projected by the Orb Core, my current strength is far from enough to withstand the erosion of this deep-blue flesh. To undergo a complete transplantation and achieve a state where I can regenerate even if my heart is shattered, I must reach the rank of an Official Wizard..."

Lin Wei stared at the deep-blue flesh, pondering the information previously provided by the Intelligent Orb Core.

"However, if I wait until I become an Official Wizard to perform the transplant, the qualitative change in my physical body and mental power will drastically lower the success rate. The only way to solve this is to transplant a small amount of cellular flesh beforehand to seed the vitality within my body..."

"But..." A dark glint flashed through Lin Wei's eyes. "This method will bring about certain side effects. It will cause intermittent loss of motor control precision. Although the frequency is low and the severity is minor, and it won't affect my cultivation, it will be fatal for biological experiments... I won't be able to conduct any biological mutation experiments at all..."

Lin Wei rubbed his nose, thinking in silence as he weighed the pros and cons.

"If only I could obtain Frost-herb Ice Crystals, I wouldn't have to worry about this..." Lin Wei sighed.

The Frost-herb Ice Crystal was the optimal solution deduced by the Intelligent Orb Core to completely eliminate the negative side effects of planting the deep-blue flesh cells early. However, these crystals were extremely rare, difficult to find even in the Shadow Forest, and their value was comparable to a first-tier spell model used by an Official Wizard.

"I can't wait any longer. The sooner the transplant, the better. It is merely a temporary loss of the opportunity to conduct biological mutation experiments. I can obtain the Frost-herb Ice Crystals once my strength is sufficient..."

Having weighed the pros and cons, Lin Wei decided to proceed with the transplantation of the deep-blue flesh. Once his mind was made up, he did not hesitate.

He turned and pushed open a narrow hidden door at the back of the secret chamber.

The space behind the door was even smaller than the chamber, only about ten square meters.

Lin Wei removed his mask and blood-stained gloves, shed his loose robe, and was left in only his trousers and a short-sleeved shirt.

"Orb Core, bring up the transplantation plan!" Lin Wei commanded. "Next, the transplant begins... This is the first time I've used myself as a test subject..."

A thin black blade formed at the tip of Lin Wei's right index finger.

*Splat!*

A three-to-four-centimeter cut appeared on his left wrist, and blood began to slowly seep out.

With a flick of his wrist, Lin Wei retrieved three test tubes filled with potions from his spatial ring. With three quick movements of one hand, he popped the stoppers open.

*Gulp, gulp!*

Without hesitation, Lin Wei downed the three potions. The bitter taste assaulted his nerves, but his expression remained unchanged.

"Orb Core, prepare for data monitoring!"

Steeling his resolve, Lin Wei pressed the deep-blue flesh against his wound.

The moment they made contact, he felt an immense wave of pain and itching. Beads of sweat began to roll down his cheeks.

"Optimal flesh transplantation volume... 1%... 2%... 3%..."

The voice of the Intelligent Orb Core rang in Lin Wei's ears, and a progress bar appeared on his retina.

The quantity of the deep-blue flesh transplant was strictly limited. Too little, and the vitality seeding would fail; too much, and it would cause irreversible damage to Lin Wei's body.

"...98%... 99%... 100%!"

The instant the progress bar hit 100%, Lin Wei immediately stored the remaining deep-blue flesh back into his spatial ring.

"Orb Core, map out the integration path of the transplanted flesh!"

The veins on Lin Wei's forehead bulged. As the deep-blue flesh entered his body, he felt a searing, burning pain.

Following the diagram provided by the Intelligent Orb Core, Lin Wei mobilized all his mental and magic power, carefully and precisely controlling the flow of the deep-blue flesh within his body.

"The potions are taking effect..."

Lin Wei could clearly sense the diffusion rate of the deep-blue flesh within his body accelerating significantly.

"It has distributed evenly throughout my body... Now, all that's left is to wait for the body to integrate with the deep-blue flesh!"

A crazed glint flashed in Lin Wei's eyes.

Sure enough, in less than thirty seconds, the free-floating deep-blue flesh cells began to actively embed themselves into Lin Wei's own cells. The intense numbing and tingling sensation forced a low growl from his throat.
