Chapter 43: Do You Really Like Her That Much?
"Why don't you try posting on DY?" Tang Zhichu suggested to Zhou Yun and Wang Xiaoyan.
Zhou Yun asked tentatively, "Are you really giving it to me?"
Tang Zhichu stuffed the last few shrimp into his mouth, began wiping his hands, and glanced at Zhou Yun. "Actually, I have a version myself."
"What version?" Zhou Yun didn't quite understand.
Wang Xiaoyan clarified, "You mean you also have a dance routine for this BGM?"
Tang Zhichu nodded, then looked around the lounge; the empty area was spacious enough. He stood up.
After finding the BGM on his phone, Tang Zhichu took Wang Xiaoyan's phone away, then turned to Zhou Yun. "Where's your phone?"
Zhou Yun was still surprised—did this guy even know how to dance? She asked, puzzled, "Why do you need my phone?"
"It's an unwritten rule—no recording."
Zhou Yun laughed. "Afraid I'll film you? Relax, my phone's in my bag. I didn't bring it out."
Tang Zhichu was reassured; this was about his career, not embarrassment.
Just like earlier when he danced at Chen Siyang's place, Tang Zhichu treated his work with more reverence than he showed women.
He played the BGM several times, searching for the rhythm.
The dance he was about to perform had been a phenomenon on DY in his previous life. A popular influencer named Ikawa Riyu had danced it, earning millions of likes. It was one of her signature videos.
"One, two, three! Go..." Tang Zhichu moved in time with the music.
He clapped twice to the left, hitting the beat perfectly, then stepped out to the right, mimicking a running motion, pulled his hand back for a left-side running pose, each move landing exactly on the rhythm.
After the first set, he raised both fists, jabbed left with his elbows while his hips angled right, a subtle contrast between left and right, creating a harmonious symmetry.
As Tang Zhichu danced, Zhou Yun was dumbfounded.
Her initial surprise evolved into admiration, then disbelief.
She always thought Tang Zhichu's singing was impressive, but surely dancing would expose his limitations. Yet, she realized she was wrong.
He really could dance—and beautifully!
Zhou Yun glanced at Wang Xiaoyan beside her, who was already covering her mouth in astonishment. Clearly, she was even more amazed.
In the entire gym, Wang Xiaoyan was the most professional dancer. Seeing her reaction, Zhou Yun understood the caliber of this routine.
This guy... how is he so talented!
Tang Zhichu remained unfazed. Next came two moves where elbows coordinated with leg turns, followed by the butterfly step that had swept DY for a time in his previous life.
He finished with two claps, echoing the opening.
Tang Zhichu expected Zhou Yun to mock him—what man dances routines like this? The choreography had a feminine flair. Yet, her laughter never came.
Instead, Zhou Yun stood up, looking at him with astonishment, and after a long moment, softly uttered two words, "Freakish talent."
Tang Zhichu's face darkened.
Seeing his expression, Zhou Yun laughed, but didn’t explain. She had meant it as praise.
Tang Zhichu turned to Wang Xiaoyan. "How did it feel?"
Wang Xiaoyan thought for a moment. In terms of difficulty, she had the edge, but in cleverness and execution, Tang Zhichu was the clear victor.
Her face was full of surprise. "Amazing."
Tang Zhichu nodded slightly, accepting Wang Xiaoyan’s acknowledgment. He knew his actions could be considered impolite.
If he were dealing with a proud or difficult person, it might come off as a challenge. But Wang Xiaoyan wasn’t that type.
"My routine is quite simple," he said.
Wang Xiaoyan quickly shook her head. "No, it’s not simple at all. It’s only twenty seconds, but the execution is superb—so lively. It’s better than my version."
Zhou Yun interjected, "Alright, you two can stop complimenting each other now."
Tang Zhichu shrugged and sat back down.
Wang Xiaoyan wanted to say more, but after glancing at Zhou Yun, she held back.
Zhou Yun changed the subject, sighing, "Our little villa really is full of hidden talents."
Tang Zhichu retorted, "Are you including yourself in that praise?"
Zhou Yun nodded, feeling oddly moved in that moment.
Such a peculiar variety show, such peculiar people—it was as if they were all formidable talents. Yet Zhou Yun found herself starting to like their little villa.
Suddenly, Zhou Yun said, "Thank you."
Tang Zhichu stood, stretched lazily, and smiled. "Honestly, exercise does feel good afterwards."
Interacting with smart people was always a pleasure.
Tang Zhichu had given Zhou Yun the BGM during their last date.
He had two motives: first, to gauge Zhou Yun’s professionalism; second, to remind her.
Whether she entered the entertainment industry or the influencer world, success was never about undermining others.
But such truths couldn’t be spoken—they had to be understood.
Zhou Yun stood as well. "Xiaoyan, you go ahead and get busy."
Wang Xiaoyan hesitated, but left.
Once she was gone, Zhou Yun looked at Tang Zhichu. "Let’s go, take a shower and change. Leave your workout clothes here, someone will wash them for you, so you won’t need to bring them next time."
After showering and changing, the two left the gym.
In the car, Tang Zhichu sat in the passenger seat. It was a private vehicle, no cameras, so he was relaxed, leaning back and half asleep—he was exhausted.
Zhou Yun started the car, glanced at Tang Zhichu, and seeing he had no intention of speaking, nudged him and asked, "Hey, what did you mean by that?"
Tang Zhichu opened his eyes. "What?"
"That BGM—what did you mean by it?"
"If you want to use it, use it."
"Really?"
"Really."
A bright sparkle lit up Zhou Yun’s beautiful eyes. She had deliberately avoided discussing this in front of Wang Xiaoyan.
Actually, she had already guessed.
Since Tang Zhichu had given her the BGM, could he really take it back?
But Wang Xiaoyan was just someone from the gym; whichever routine she contributed wouldn’t maximize the benefits.
So Zhou Yun had steered clear of the topic. She knew the potential of the BGM and the dance.
If she managed it well, she could easily gain tens of thousands of followers.
Why had Zhou Yun thanked Tang Zhichu? First, for the BGM; second, for helping her realize she had been stuck in a rut without noticing.
The observer sees clearly. Zhou Yun wanted to use her skills to break into DY and the influencer world, but had hit a bottleneck and thought she could break out through trending topics.
But Tang Zhichu showed her the possibility of relying on genuine talent, helping her recognize her shortcomings in a way she could accept.
Yet, Zhou Yun suddenly felt uncertain.
She considered other angles—why was Tang Zhichu doing this?
Was he sincerely helping her? Or was he worried she’d keep targeting Chen Siyang?
Zhou Yun turned toward Tang Zhichu, and after a long pause, asked, "Do you... do you really like her that much?"
