Chapter Five: Supreme Cultivation Technique—Heart Sword Formula
Leiba’s expression suddenly darkened, but he was powerless against An Miaoling. At this moment, An Miaoling was the sect’s hope. In the end, he could only turn to Mo Wentian.
Mo Wentian rubbed his temples in frustration. How had Qin Tian become so infatuated? Was appearance really that important?
Just then, a shout rang out.
“Sect Master, bad news! A large number of demon clans are heading toward Kunlun!”
Mo Wentian’s expression changed immediately. The recent celestial anomaly had surely attracted the demons’ attention. They had sent scouts nearby and had just detected An Miaoling’s awakening of her ancient bloodline. To the beasts, such an ancient bloodline was as precious as a rare treasure, for devouring it could strengthen their own lineage.
“Let’s go take a look,” Mo Wentian said, leading the peak masters toward the sect gate.
Outside the sect, more and more demons gathered. As Mo Wentian arrived at the gate, a two-meter-tall white tiger demon charged forward.
“What brings the White Tiger Demon Emperor to Kunlun Sword Sect?” Mo Wentian asked.
“Hahaha! If you know what’s good for you, hand over the bloodline awakener. Otherwise, don’t blame me for washing Kunlun Sword Sect in blood,” the White Tiger Demon Emperor threatened.
“Ridiculous! You think you alone can destroy Kunlun Sword Sect?” Mo Wentian scoffed. The White Tiger Demon Emperor was a half-Saint at the second level, on par with him, so he was not afraid.
“I can’t do it alone, but what about the Azure Peng Demon Emperor? He’ll arrive in five minutes. You have five minutes to decide,” the White Tiger said.
Hearing mention of another Demon Emperor, Mo Wentian’s face grew grave. “Qin Tian, take An Miaoling and hide.”
“Hey! Where did he go?” Mo Wentian looked behind him; Qin Tian had been there a moment ago but was now gone. He then glanced at An Miaoling nearby. “Where’s your master?”
“I don’t know,” she replied, equally surprised that her master had vanished silently beside them. She fell into deep thought.
Ten miles outside the sect, the Azure Peng Demon Emperor led four great demon kings toward Kunlun Sword Sect. Suddenly, he stopped sharply, spotting a young man sitting under a tree reading a book.
“What’s the rush?” Qin Tian asked calmly.
The Azure Peng Demon Emperor looked at Qin Tian with caution. “I have urgent matters. Until next time.”
He tried to sneak around, but Qin Tian blocked his path again.
“This road is closed. Turn back.”
“Hmm? You know what I’m here for?”
“Are you with Kunlun Sword Sect?” Qin Tian asked.
“Congratulations, you’re right!” The Azure Peng Demon Emperor shuddered at Qin Tian’s innocent smile. “Since that’s the case, sorry for the disturbance.”
He then turned and led the four demon kings away.
“Wait!” Qin Tian called out.
The Azure Peng Demon Emperor froze, turning back with a wary expression.
“Don’t worry, I don’t need your essence right now. But I have a bond with this Rhinoceros Beetle King, so he’ll be coming with me,” Qin Tian said, waving his hand to capture the Rhinoceros Beetle King.
“You… you,” the Azure Peng’s face flushed red and white in anger.
Finally, he suppressed his rage. “Let’s go. We’re leaving.”
With that, he and the remaining three demon kings fled like the wind.
Qin Tian took the Rhinoceros Beetle King to the Hidden Sword Peak, muttering, “It’s been a long time since I had beef.”
Hearing this, the Rhinoceros Beetle King, bound and suppressed in his hand, was so frightened it started to shed tears.
“Isn’t wolf or bear meat better? Why beef?”
Back at Hidden Sword Peak, Qin Tian slaughtered the Rhinoceros Beetle King and cut off a beef leg to start cooking.
At the sect gate, the two sides had been at a standoff for half an hour. The White Tiger Demon Emperor finally realized he’d been stood up. His forces alone couldn’t break through Kunlun Sword Sect, so he had to give up.
“Wait for me. I’ll be back.”
With that, he fled with his men.
An Miaoling smelled the aroma of food as soon as she returned to Hidden Sword Peak.
“Master, what delicious thing are you making now?”
She had grown to look forward to Qin Tian’s cooking, as the ingredients were often demon king meat and millennia-old spirit herbs.
“Beef stew today,” Qin Tian replied.
“Beef? Isn’t there no beef demon in the Demon Lock Tower?”
“I just made a new friend, and I asked him for some,” Qin Tian said.
“A friend?”
An Miaoling immediately thought of the Azure Peng Demon Emperor’s absence. If her master wanted to pretend, she’d let him be.
They began their meal, and after finishing, Qin Tian was about to lie down in his room. But An Miaoling stopped him after only a few steps.
“You need to train with me from now on. As my master, you must set an example. I don’t want to hear Leiba and the others talk about you like that. It’s embarrassing for me.”
Though she said this, she actually wanted to assess Qin Tian’s true strength during training.
“Train? I’m already powerful without training.”
“How powerful?”
Qin Tian thought for a moment. “No one in the sect can beat me.”
“So you admit you’re a half-Saint?” An Miaoling asked.
“If you say so, then I am!” He said, continuing toward his room.
Once inside, he took out the Supreme Sword Technique and the Heart Sword Art and began studying.
A month later, he reached the seventh level and comprehended the sword intent.
His progress was actually cheating a bit. His Art of Freedom allowed him to manifest copies of people at similar levels, so he had transformed himself into the peak master of Heavenly Sword Peak, who already possessed sword intent. Naturally, his cultivation accelerated.
At the same time, he realized his own talent was mediocre. But since An Miaoling was only at the first Nirvana realm, her talent still had great room to improve.
In the courtyard, An Miaoling practiced her cultivation with a cold expression. The two had spoken less in recent days, as she devoted herself to mastering the Path of Heartlessness, growing even colder in demeanor.
Qin Tian approached and asked, “What cultivation method are you practicing?”
An Miaoling sheathed her sword and replied calmly, “The Supreme Forgetfulness Manual.”
“That’s an imperial-level technique. If you want, I can teach it to you,” she offered.
Qin Tian frowned. “Recite it for me.”
An Miaoling nodded and began, “Gather the five elements to understand life and destruction; observe fate to forget emotions…”
After only a few lines, Qin Tian interrupted.
“What kind of lousy technique is this? Forgetting emotions? If you really sever the seven feelings and six desires to become a person without emotions, what meaning is there in cultivation? What’s the point of living?”
His questions stunned An Miaoling.
Having spent so much time with Qin Tian recently, she felt his care and concern deeply, along with his selflessness in giving her supreme imperial weapons and demon emperor pills. These emotions challenged her Dao heart.
“Don’t you like sword cultivation? I have the Heart Sword Art. It should be better than your Supreme Forgetfulness Manual.”
Saying this, Qin Tian handed her the Heart Sword Art.
