"Sister-in-law, it’s me, Li Hanqin."

Li Hanqin? Zhou Yuheng’s lackey?

Lin Xilan pulled her car keys from her bag and said as she walked forward, "Is something the matter?"

"Sister-in-law, Brother Heng is in some trouble. Can you come over? I’ll text you the address."

Lin Xilan was exhausted; all she wanted was a good night's sleep. However, she knew she couldn't refuse, not when she was Zhou Yuheng’s wife.

...

Lin Xilan drove to the location Li Hanqin had given her. It was a private members-only bar. As soon as she walked in, she saw Zhou Yuheng, who was currently kicking a man violently.

Lin Xilan recognized the man—he was also a friend of Zhou Yuheng’s, named Gu Xuan.

Seeing Lin Xilan, Li Hanqin immediately ran over.

"Sister-in-law, please, you have to talk to Brother Heng. If this keeps up, someone is going to die."

Lin Xilan frowned. "What kind of grudge is this?"

Li Hanqin glanced at her, looking troubled. "It’s just... it’s because Gu Xuan let slip the secret about Brother Heng and Sister Xiaoli. Once Brother Heng found out, this happened."

Case solved.

Lin Xilan felt a surge of joy in her heart; she was finally off the hook for this mess.

She hurried over to Zhou Yuheng’s side and used all her strength to pull him away.

"Alright, that’s enough. Stop kicking him, or you’ll end up behind bars, and then Xiaoli will run off with someone else."

Only Lin Xilan could come up with such a "refreshingly unconventional" remark. The onlookers nearby stared at her in disbelief.

Zhou Yuheng turned his head to look at Lin Xilan, then withdrew his gaze. He lifted his hand to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth with his thumb, staring down at the dying Gu Xuan on the floor with a warning: "This is the first time, and it will be the last."

Gu Xuan slowly lifted his head. He glared at Zhou Yuheng, bracing himself against a nearby chair to stumble to his feet, still wearing a defiant, unyielding expression.

"Zhou Yuheng, don’t get cocky."

He pointed a finger at Lin Xilan and said to Zhou Yuheng, "You’re a married man. How dare you still pester Xiaoli?"

Zhou Yuheng let out a cold scoff. "Do you think you’re in any position to say that?"

Gu Xuan suddenly roared, "Why wouldn't I be? I’m not married. I won't let Xiaoli be a mistress. I truly love her, and I can give her no less than you can."

"Zhou Yuheng, you’re a married man now!"

Standing by, Lin Xilan sighed inwardly. What a cliché love triangle.

Thank goodness she hadn't gotten herself involved.

Later, as Zhou Yuheng left the bar, Lin Xilan hurried to catch up; she had noticed the wound on his arm earlier.

"Hey, you're hurt. Let me take you to the hospital."

Lin Xilan felt this was a good opportunity. She wanted to butter up Zhou Yuheng; if she did, perhaps the matter regarding Lin Wei would be resolved.

Zhou Yuheng didn't slow down, so Lin Xilan sped up and blocked his path, spreading her arms.

"Zhou Yuheng, Brother Heng, can you please just get your wound treated? Do you want to bleed to death? If you die, what will happen to Xiaoli?"

Lin Xilan panted, staring at Zhou Yuheng with wide, innocent eyes.

"Get lost."

Zhou Yuheng’s lips parted slightly.

Lin Xilan sighed. "I don’t want to be here either. It’s so late, and I want to sleep. I only came because Li Hanqin called me."

"But now that I’m here, I can’t just watch you die."

"Let’s go. I’ll take you to the hospital. Stop trying to look cool with an injury; it’s incredibly stupid."

?

Zhou Yuheng: When was he trying to look cool?

Lin Xilan took him to the hospital. The wound was deep and contained shards of broken glass from the bottle. It was a good thing they came, or he could have died from an infection.

Lin Xilan busied herself, accompanying him through examinations, paying the bills, and picking up medication.

Zhou Yuheng watched it all, silently. He thought back to how, if not for Lin Xilan’s warning, he never would have realized his own friend had betrayed him.

He looked at Lin Xilan, saying nothing.

On the way back, Lin Xilan drove, and Zhou Yuheng sat in the passenger seat.

"Should I drop you off at Xiaoli’s place?"

Lin Xilan felt certain Zhou Yuheng wouldn't return to the villa with her. Ever since Song Qingli had returned, he hadn't touched her once.

Lin Xilan was already prepared to turn toward Song Qingli’s home when Zhou Yuheng suddenly said, "Back to the villa."
