Chapter 12: I Give You Two Choices
A group of thugs, all dressed in identical black uniforms and wearing sunglasses, looked exactly like something out of the movie The Matrix.
If an ordinary person were suddenly brought to such a place and saw this scene, they would probably be scared out of their wits on the spot.
But Xiao Nan was certainly not an ordinary person.
Faced with the scene before him, not only did he feel no ripple of emotion, but he even found it somewhat dull.
He was a natural-born martial artist.
He really had no interest in fighting these low-level thugs.
The group of men in black simply stared at Xiao Nan with hostile intent but did not make the first move.
At that moment, a burly man with a full beard stepped down from a nearby Land Rover and walked toward Xiao Nan step by step.
This man was Brother Leopard, real name Li Yunbao, known as the top boss in the southern district of Luo City. He controlled the underground forces in this area and commanded several hundred men.
“Brother Leopard, you really didn’t have to come yourself. Handling such a small-time punk doesn’t require your presence!”
“Exactly, Brother Leopard, it’s hot outside. Why don’t you go back to the car and enjoy the air conditioning?”
“Just tell us how to deal with this guy, and we’ll make sure it’s taken care of for you.”
Several followers crowded around Li Yunbao, flattering him.
“Heh... Li Yadong is really useless. He even called in an old favor just to have me deal with this bumpkin.” Li Yunbao glanced at Xiao Nan and sneered.
He regretted coming personally just to handle such a country bumpkin.
But thinking about repaying the old favor to Li Yadong’s father made the trip worthwhile.
Li Yadong.
Even if he hadn’t heard Li Yunbao’s words, Xiao Nan had already pieced together most of the situation.
Since coming down from the mountain, he hadn’t made many enemies—just the Xie family and Li Yadong.
Xiao Nan felt he had been too gentle when he beat Li Yadong earlier.
Now Li Yunbao had reached Xiao Nan’s side, removed his sunglasses, and curled his lips into a mocking smile:
“Kid, you’ve pissed off the wrong people. I’ll give you two choices. First, break both your legs, then come with me to the Li family estate. Kneel at the gate all night shouting, ‘Young Master Li, you are my grandfather.’ If the Young Master is in a good mood, maybe you’ll get to keep your life.”
“The second choice: my men will sever your tendons and ligaments, tie a big stone to your body, and throw you into the moat to feed the fish.”
“Choose one. You have ten seconds to decide. If you don’t answer within ten seconds, I’ll assume you picked the second.”
He snapped his fingers.
The henchmen around him immediately began counting down in unison.
“Ten!”
“Nine!”
“Eight!”
“I’ve made my choice.”
Xiao Nan interrupted their countdown, finding the whole affair boring.
“Oh?”
Li Yunbao seemed pleased. “Which one, one or two?”
“I choose three.” Xiao Nan replied.
Li Yunbao’s eyes widened. “You little bastard! Facing death, you still dare to mock me?”
“Smack!”
A crisp slap suddenly rang out.
The sound was abrupt and almost eerie.
The entire scene fell into silence, as quiet as a pin dropping.
No one saw who struck the slap or who it landed on.
So why was there the sound of a slap?
Soon, a clear handprint appeared on Li Yunbao’s right cheek, revealing the truth to everyone.
The one who had been slapped was none other than Li Yunbao himself.
But who had slapped him?
Not a single one of the dozen or so eyes present could see who had done it—not even Li Yunbao.
Everyone was stunned.
“I’ve never seen what my mother looks like in all my life,” Xiao Nan murmured slowly, flicking his hand, “but that doesn’t mean I’ll tolerate anyone insulting her.”
He was an honest man. Since no one could s
